Coca-Cola's sugar problem (?)

I read this article yesterday about Coke containing over a number of damaging substances, for example, sugar. The company denied this fact for 126 years.
The company admitted back in 1903 that Coca-Cola contained some amount of cocaine. I believe that's how Coca- Cola got it's name.
It is believed that drinking too much Coke can cause diabetes, heart problems and various other diseases. This popular drink contains calories and drinking too much Coca-Cola can make people obese. Obesity is a major problem nowadays all around the world.
Food labels are going to be introduced in this year which will indicate how healthy the food is but it's not confirmed if they will label the drinks, too. It would be good and helpful, if they would label somehow how healthy the drinks are.
Scientist, Robert Lustig warned us to turn our attention to sugar and that it's as dangerous as tobacco and alcohol.

My Ideal NYE Celebration

Since I watched a movie about celebrating the New Year in New York, I want to see how is it really like . The movie was about the highlight of this event, the Times Square Ball drop, which is always lowered a few minutes before NYE. This is held annually since 1907. It has become a tradition.
The ball consists of hundreds and hundreds of different- coloured lightbulbs, which makes it very beautiful.

They even call special guests ( actors, actresses, singers) . You can watch it through live stream but it can't be compared with the feeling when you are there and everything happens right in front of you.
Although there's always a huge crowd, I think it is not so important. What's important is that you are there with your friends and with 1 million other people waiting for the NYE, which is full of changes, new opportunities etc. In my opinion, it is one of those things you have to try in this short life.
It may cost a little ( maybe a little more) but it's worth it.
I hope someday I will succeed talking my friends into going to New York to celebrate New Year.

Personal Highlights of 2012

From the 8th of July to the 15th of July last year I was in a camp for amateur actors and actresses, and for directors. I saw their advert in a newspaper for teens and I decided that I would like to try it out. I was very excited because of two reasons : I was never in a camp before and I always wanted to try out acting. This was a great opportunity for me and I didn't want to miss it. So, I talked my parents into letting me take part in this. They let me try this out, and of course I was very happy.

On the first day we played a few games together and after the games we were divided into 5 groups and I was in the group with the youngest participants.

Our teacher was a Hungarian actress. She was very nice to us and let us start our class with 10-20 minutes of relaxation, listening to classical music and just walking around the room. It helped me a lot to prepare for those long days ahead of me.

The accomodation couldn't be better. We slept in a boarding school. I was in a room with 5 other girls. Out of the 5 girls, 3 were my team-mates.
On the first three days we played various games and we improvised. We only started to prepare our performance on Wednesday.

The first time we performed our show was on Friday the 13th and I will never forget that date. I was overwhelmed by a good feeling I can't describe. I think it was the first time I felt that way. I accomplished one of my goals I set for myself.
After the show, everybody congratulated us and they thanked us for reminiscing their memories from their childhood. I saw a few tearful eyes, too.

The final performance, which was for the parents and friends, was on the 15th of July. It started at 11 am. I was very excited before performing but I managed to calm myself down right on time. Again, I had a good feeling, euforia I think, after the show. I believe my decision to take part in something like this camp was good and it was worth it.

World Event Highlights 2012

There were number of events in the year 2012 that changed the world. There were times when people were afraid, and there were times when we laughed etc. but in the end we all survived the End of the World! :)

On the 6th of August, Curiosity, a car- sized robot successfully landed on Mars. Its missions are to investigate if there's water on Mars, the climate of Mars etc. Curiosity took pictures of Mars, which I think will be helpful in the further scientific investigation and "meeting" Mars better.

Austrian skydiver, Felix Baumgartner set a world record on the 14th of October when he jumped from the capsule, which was at an altitude of 39 kilometers over Roswell, New Mexico, USA . His estimated speed was 1,342 kilometres per hour. He broke a few world records with his famous jump, and I think the broadcast of his jump was watched by millions of people all over the world.

Hurricane Sandy killed at least 209 people in the USA, Canada and in the Caribbean Islands. It caused a huge damage by destroying homes, leaving people without electricity. It started on the 22nd of October and it lasted for almost a week. The storm hit New York on October 29. The damage in New York caused by Hurricane Sandy is estimated at over $63 billion.

2012 Summer Olympics

One of the many things that the whole world talked about was the Games of the XXX Olympiad, officially known as the '12 Summer Olympic Games. It was held in London, from the 27th of July to the 12th of August 2012. There were at least 10, 000 athletes.  Their motto was Inspire a Generation .

The event was officially opened by Queen Elizabeth II. Musical performers included Mike Oldfield, London Symphony Orchestra  with  Rowan Atkinson, Arctic Monkeys and Sir Paul McCartney.

The closing ceremony was held on the 12th of August 2012 and it included the handover of the Olympic flag to Brazil, the host city of the 2016 Summer Olympics.

People from all over the world visited London for the Olympics. Over 9,000,000 tickets have been sold, from around $30 for standard seats to around $3,000 for the best seats.

Here are some facts about the Olympics:

- Of the 10,500 athletes competing in the main Olympics, 4,688 were women and 5,802 were men.
- In March 2007, the budget for the Games, originally £2.4 billion, raised upwards: to £9.3 billion.

- The budget then was £600,000.
- London also hosted the Games in 1908, when 2,008 athletes (1,971 men and 37 women),

Approximately 1000 Olympic medals were produced by Royal Mint.
Out of those medals USA won the most (104).

There were 32 world records broken on the Olympic Games. For example, Dániel Gyurta, a Hungarian swimmer set a world record time of 2:07.28 in the discipline Men's 200 meter breaststroke, Dana Vollmer from the USA set a world record time of 55.98 in Women's 100 meter butterfly.

I had a really great time watching the Olympics and I can' t wait the '16 Summer Olympic Games. :-)
